WHAT BEING A WOMEN’S CRO MEANS AT EXO.
As the premier Women’s CRO we are the core foundation of the over $1 T Women’s Health Market.
We bridge the gap between disparities in women’s health research and female-focused health solutions.
Only 4% of all healthcare research and development is targeted specifically at women’s health issues-despite the estimated $500 billion annual economic burden for women.
That means there are huge fundamental gaps in the clinical data available around women’s health.
The lack of scientific knowledge results in a lack of innovation, higher barriers for FDA approval, and keeps this market marginalized.
We need better insights to provide better solutions.
Pitchbook’s 2020 Report stated:
“We believe new approaches to women’s health research will help open the door to new products and services”
That’s exactly what we aim to do at EXO.

THe Problem:
There are Huge Disparities in Women’s Healthcare Research & Treatment
-
Lack of Clinical Research on Women
-
Traditional CROs are using the Wrong, Outdated, Antiquated Approach
-
We Need Better Insights to Provide Better Solutions

By the Numbers:
-
Lack of Clinical Research on Women
Women have historically been excluded from research due to fear of hormonal cycles interfering with experimental results or the risk of harming the fetus. Women were banned from clinical trials from 1977-1993, and even until the early 2000s, many landmark clinical trials in the US primarily had male participants.
Today, unfortunately, most clinical trials still continue to have mainly male participants.
Therefore, there are fundamental gaps in the clinical data available around women’s health. The lack of scientific knowledge results in a lack of innovation and higher barriers for FDA approval.
We need better insights to provide better solutions.
-
Women are at higher risk than men for certain diseases
on average:
38% OF WOMEN
across the world suffer from a Chronic Disease,
accounting for
1/3rd OF FEMALE MORTALITY.
-
Only 4% of R&D Budgets
